As highlighted in the media, GP practices are experiencing a high demand on their services resulting in difficulties in getting through on the phone lines.
We would like to reassure you we have been working throughout the COVID crisis and continue to review processes to improve our services.
The increase in calls is unprecedented and we apologise to those who have had problems getting through.
We are currently working with our phone system provider to see if we can improve the system to meet the needs of our patients.
We have also created capacity through eConsult and encourage our patients to use this through the practice website as an alternate method to contact us. This will enable us to respond to patients in a timely manner and should also enable the phone lines to become more free.
We understand your frustration but again would like to reassure you that we have continued to work through the Pandemic, but in a different way, requiring triage prior to appointment, to keep patients and staff safe. We are undertaking regular reviews to improve and adopt our services to the ongoing changes.
Please return the tear off slip from your previous prescription to the surgery, clearly indicating the items that are required and where you wish to collect the prescription.
Telephoned or faxed requests are not acceptable as errors may occur.
Repeat prescriptions will normally be processed and ready for collection within TWO working days from the surgery.
Prescriptions can also be posted direct to you when accompanied by a stamped - addressed envelope.
Please remember to order your repeat prescription before your current prescription expires, allowing extra time to cover for the surgery being closed at weekends or bank holidays.
You can also use the on line service to order repeat prescriptions if you are registered
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
